Oracle Identity Governance – OIG (earlier Oracle Identity Manager – OIM) is Oracle recommended User/Role/Org Management, Provisioning, Reconciliation, Attestation software .

There are four main Consoles in OIM mainly

a) Identity Console : Used by End Users to Create/Manage User/Roles and Request/Approve Role
b) Sysadmin Console : Used by OIM Administrators to Configure & Manage OIM, Add User Defined Fields (UDF) etc
c) WebLogic Console : Used by Administrators to Manage & Configure  WebLogic Server (J2EE Server) on which OIM is deployed
d) FMW EM Console : Used by Administrators to  Manage & Configure OIM Application

In our Oracle Identity Manager training by me Oracle ACE & Author, Atul Kumar and OIM specialist, Kirti We Cover OIM Console as dedicated Module .
In this FREE Video Lesson from our OIM Training, I will cover how to access Oracle Identity Manager Identity Console and use of this console.

A) Oracle Identity Manager Identity Console (http://OIM_Host:OIM_Port/identity) gets deployed on Oracle Identity manager Managed server (running on default Port 14000). This console provides:

  • GUI to manage Users/Groups/Roles/Requests within Oracle Identity Manager.
  • This console is typically used by Oracle Identity Manager End Users.
  • This application supports Active-Active Cluster.
  • In order to login this console using any user in OIM User Store.

There is a schema which is <Prefix>_OIM and in that schema, there is a table called “USR” and your user should exist in that table. If you are using Oracle Access Manager as single sign on URL to application, then you also sync this user from Oracle identity manager to the OID or OUD using LDAP Sync and Oracle Access Manager (OAM) authenticates against that source.

In order to Login, first of all, make sure your Oracle identity manager managed server is up and running and then:

  1. Access http://OIM_Host:OIM_Port/identity. (Default port for Oracle identity manager managed server is 14000).
  2. Login via xelsysadm username and password. This xelsysadm is a super user that gets created when you configured oracle identity Manager.
Note: If you integrate Oracle identity manager with Oracle access manager for SSO, you will be using the Oracle http server URL.

Once you login to the console, there are various tabs like below:

1. Self service: As name suggests, it is used for the tasks for self service means user can act on his behalf.

  • My information: This is to manage your password, Changing your challange questions etc.
  • My Access: This is to see what all applications you have access to.
  • Request Access: If you want access to a system, you can request it from here. Then the request will go for approval depending on how the request is configured.
  • Track Requests: You can track the progress of your request in this section.
  • Provisioning Tasks: Here you can see any task assigned to you and you can act on that.
  • Pending Approvals: You can see pending Approvals in this section. For example, you are a manager and you say all the requests related to the application that you manage and all the account creation requests should come to you for approval. So when someone raises a request, then the request will come to you for approval and here you can see that request and approve.

2.  Manage: This tab is for managing below sections:

  • Users: This is for managing end users.
  • Roles: Roles are collection of Users to which you have assigned particular permission. So role could be an adminitration role or an EBS account so that when someone edit to that role, they will get a Oracle E-Business Account automatically.
  • Organization: Here you can catagorise your users and groups in an organization against which some policies can be applied. For example: A particular role can be granted to a selective organization or access to a particular application.
  • Administration Roles: This is to manage admin Roles.
  • Policies: This is to manage Policies.
